Abstract
We have studied the temperature-dependent phonon spectrum and other vibrational properties of copper using the self-consistent phonon method and also the quasiharmonic method. A model pair potential suitable for such a study has been constructed. We have also investigated the vibrational instability of the overheated perfect crystal by studying the system’s free energy. Keywords
