Abstract
After feeding veratric acid or veratraldehyde to rabbits, veratroylglucuronide was isolated from the urine. The method of isolation is described, also its physical and chemical properties. Veratroylglucuronide methyl ester was prepared in good yields by 3 methods and from it the triacetyl derivate, also in crystalline form. Anisoylglucuronide and anisoyl-glucuronide methyl ester were noncrystalline, but triacetyl-anisoylglucuronide methyl ester was obtained as needles. About 70% of veratraldehyde and veratric acid was found in urine as free veratric acid and veratroylglucuronide. More glucuronide was formed from the aldehyde than from the acid. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
