A fossiliferous lower Canadian (Tremadoc) boulder from the Benan Conglomerate of the Girvan district

Abstract
A limestone boulder from the Benan Conglomerate (low Caradoc Series?) of the Girvan district yielded a few fossils of North American aspect, including Clelandia reliqua sp. nov., which are indicative of an early Canadian (Tremadoc) age. It is suggested that the boulder originated from a shallow-water limestone deposited on a land-mass on the SE margin of the Dalradian trough.Keywords
