Effects of Epinephrine and l-Nor-Epinephrine on Renal Excretion of Solutes During Mannitol Diuresis in the Hydropenic Dog

Abstract
Electrolyte excretion and hemodynamics were measured in 12 dogs in which osmotic diuresis was induced in hydropenia by intraven. infusion of hypertonic mannitol. Epinephrine produced a diminution in the urinary concns. of Na and Cl as well as in filtration rate and renal plasma flow. 1-Norepinephrine produced minor changes in electrolyte excretion and in hemodynamics. Epinephrine appeared to exert effects on both the intraglomerular and extraglomerular portions of the nephron.
