Abstract
A method is descr, for detn, of the activity of excised ciliated epithelium. The method depends on detn. of the velocity of a test object placed on the ciliated surface. The velocity is constant for different sizes of test objects if the wt /unit area of contact is kept constant. The velocity decreased with increasing load above 20 mg./sq. mm. Excised ciliated epithelium is excitable mechanically but wt. per se is not an adequate stimulus. Keywords
