Serum Ribonuclease Activity After Temporary Ligation of Renal Pedicles in Rats.

Abstract
A study was performed of urea and serum ribonuclease activity after ligation of the renal pedicles in rats for periods of 45, 60 or 90 minutes. Both urea and ribonuclease activity increased reversibly in the surviving animals and remained elevated until death in the others. The significance of the findings is discussed, and it is suggested that the decrease in the glomerular filtration rate could explain the behavior of serum ribonuclease.
