Accurate freehand injection into the lateral brain ventricle of the conscious mouse.

Abstract
Intraventricular brain injections into conscious mice were made using a needle sleeved with polyethylene tubing and a modified Coleman and Patton restraining cage. The injection site was verified by histological, autoradiographic, and pharmacological methods using more than 140 mice. Results indicate that better than 90% of the injections were made directly into the lateral brain ventricle.
