Abstract
It has been shown that in common with other malarial species the drug response in the sporogonous cycle of Plasmodium cynomolgi parallels in a special way the drug response in the schizogonous cycle. Thus, prophylactic drugs produce deteriorating changes in the oocysts while curative drugs have a destructive effect on the sporozoites. A comparison of the effects of prophylactic drugs on the sporogonous and schizogonous cycles of the four malarial species studied thus far suggests the presence of more than one pre-erythrocytic developmental stage in the schizogonous cycles of P. vivax and P. cynomolgi following the initial invasion by the sporozoite. Keywords
