Hepatic Cutaneous Porphyria

Abstract
There is reason to suspect that an aberration in purine metabolism may represent part of the defect of the hepatic porphyrias. A case of hepatic cutaneous porphyria of the symptomatic type is reported. The patient was treated with adenosine-5-monophosphate for more than one year. A reduction in urine uroporphyrin excretion, as well as a decreased incidence and severity of photosensitivity reactions were noted.
