Abstract
A mechanical model is employed to simulate the deformation behavior of glass rods subjected to tensile loads which varied linearly with time. Assumptions are made about the nonlinearity of viscosity and modulus, and about the distribution function of viscosity coefficients as a function of retardation time. A modification of the model is introduced to apply the fictive temperature concept to viscosity data and is also applied to the case of stress‐release under constant strain. Keywords
