Effect of Pressure on Self-Diffusion in White Phosphorus

Abstract
Pressure decreases the rate of self-diffusion in α white phosphorus. At 30°C the activation volume is 30 cm3, a value which indicates that considerable lattice relaxation takes place about vacancies. At 41.30°C the activation volume is about an order of magnitude larger, a behavior consistent with a view that lattice disordering on a comparatively large scale begins well below the melting point.
