The chromatographic separation of free and combined plasma cholesterol

Abstract

The chromatographic separation of cholesterol from its esters using alumina and a solvent system of light petroleum followed by benzene was ^achieved. It was shown that esters of cholesterol may be estimated directly by the Liebermann-Burchard reaction. On the basis of the above, a method was developed for the direct detn. of free and combined cholesterol in blood plasma.
