Abstract
Formation of o-chloromethyl aryl cuprates via halogen-metal exchange of 2-iodobenzyl chlorides with n-butyllithium provides a cuprate that may be added to unhindered enones and ammonium salt 5 giving intermediates suitable for subsequent annulation reactions. Keywords
