The Effect of Increased Pantothenic Acid in the Egg on the Development of the Chick Embryo

Abstract
The pantothenic acid available to the chick embryo was increased by direct inj. into the egg before incubation and by supplementing the diet of a flock of hens with 3 times the daily requirement. Increased pantothenic acid in the egg was associated with an increased Hb cone, in the 12-day chick embryo. A comparatively low conc. tended to be associated with a larger than normal brain, while both heart and brain were depressed in relative size with higher levels of pantothenic acid. Concomitant with changes in brain and heart size, there was some shift in the balance and level of the 8 vits. in the tissues for which assays were made.
