Abstract
SOME authors have stated that patients with diabetes mellitus due to hemochromatosis are not prone to the vascular complications seen in ordinary diabetes mellitus. Lonergan and Robbins1 examined the kidney sections of 62 patients with hemochromatosis and diabetes and reported the absence of the Kimmelstiel-Wilson nodular glomerular lesion. Sheldon,2 who collected 311 authentic cases of hemochromatosis, stated that in only 8 subjects could atherosclerosis have been present. Bell3 noted only 1 serious vascular lesion, a myocardial infarction, in 29 cases of hemochromatosis with diabetes, and Warren4 stated that renal glomerular lesions have not been reported in hemochromatosis with diabetes. However, . . .Keywords
