Abstract
Presents an application of the effective-operators method to interpret resonant multiphoton ionisation. The authors study the three-photon ionisation of Cs I initially excited in state 6p, near the 16p resonance. In addition the DC Stark effect is analysed. Atomic quantities needed for the evaluation of effective operators are obtained by using a non-relativistic central potential model. Infinite summations are calculated by the Dalgarno method (1955). Theoretical results are compared with experimental data recently obtained by Normand et al. (1978). The main experimental features are reproduced well by the calculation described here.
