Abstract

Bis(9-borabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane) reacts with sulfur to give the bis(1,5-cyclooctanediylboryl)- monosulfide (1) in high yield. The (9-BBN)₂ disulfide 2 is easily prepared from 1 with sulfur. 2, which can also be obtained from 9-Iodo-9-BBN with sulfur, reacts with (9-BBN)₂ to form 1.1 is an excellent sulfidation reagent for preparing thio compounds by S/O-exchange.
