The sensitivity of EAS characteristics to model parameters

Abstract
The relationship between the primary energy of EAS and their ensuing characteristics has been analyzed for different models of high-energy interactions. Attention has been directed towards choosing a model such that there is agreement between the number spectrum of EAS and the assumption of a primary energy spectrum having a constant exponent at all energies. A possible model is one in which the multiplicity in high-energy interactions starts to increase faster than E1/4 with energy above a few times 1015 eV; other consequences of this mode are examined.
