Cytochrome b-245 of neutrophils is also present in human monocytes, macrophages and eosinophils

Abstract
A cytochrome .beta. with a midpoint oxidation-reduction potential of -245 mV (cytochrome .beta.245) that is a major component of the microbicidal oxidase system of human neutrophil leukocytes was identified in human eosinophils, monocytes and macrophages at concentrations similar to that found in neutrophils. It was absent from a variety of other cells. This cytochrome is present in phagocytic leukocytes and probably plays an important part in the specialized activities of these cells.
