Abstract
The available evidence is examined and interpreted in favor of an expansion of the field of molarization. Speothos has no strong modality in number of molars. The fossil relatives of Otocyon are briefly reviewed, and Otocyon and Prototocyon are referred to the Caninae.Keywords
