Where do psychology honours graduates go?

Abstract
One hundred and seven persons who graduated in honours psychology from the University of Melbourne in 1979, 1980 and 1981 responded to a questionnaire concerned with employment, career plans and postgraduate study. In this paper, we report data concerning what jobs psychology graduates find, what job satisfaction they enjoy, and how they perceive their medium and long term futures. In summary, we found that graduates took on a wide variety of jobs, that many continued with further study, and that involuntary unemployment was rare although jobs are becoming more difficult to get. Most graduates were satisfied with their work, but did not, in general, see themselves remaining in their present employment in the long term.
