Das Eisen im punktierten Knochenmark

Abstract
The histochemically reacting Fe in the bone marrow belongs to the depot-Fe fraction. It was investigated in 177 cases. There is no relation between the content of the histochemically-reacting iron and the basic disease or between Fe-content and the condition of the peripheral blood. The findings in the bone marrow do not give any information about the iron-need, and were of no diagnostic or therapeutic value. The depot- Fe of the bone marrow, stored chiefly in granular form, does not play any part in the actual blood-formation; for this purpose only soluble Fe may be used. Depot-Fe may be used for blood formation, but such processes cannot be traced histologically. The storage of Fe in bone marrow depends as yet on unknown factors.
