Pregnancy specific β1-glycoprotein and α2-pregnancy associated globulin in tumours of the female genital tract

Abstract
Tumour tissues obtained from 35 patients with malignancies of the female genital tract were investigated for production of pregnancy specific β1-glycoprotein (PSβ1G) and α2-pregnancy associated globulin (α2-PAG). PSβ1G was found in all five trophoblastic tumours studied and in 10 of the 30 non-trophoblastic cancers. α2-PAG was not detected in any of the neoplastic tissues. In 18 of the patients with non-trophoblastic tumours PSβ1G and α2-PAG serum concentrations were also determined. No correlation between serum and tissue findings were noted. Thus, PSβ1G does not seem to be a valuable serum indicator for monitoring the extent or variation of tumour mass in non-trophoblastic gynecological malignancies. Likewise, α2-PAG is unlikely to serve as a clinical useful tumour marker in various gynecological cancers. Bei 35 Patienten mit malignen Neoplasien des weiblichen Genitaltraktes wurde Tumorgewebe auf das Vorliegen von schwangerschaftsspezifischem β1-Glykoprotein (PSβ1G) und α2-schwangerschaftsassoziiertem Globulin (α2-PAG) untersucht. PSβ1G konnte bei allen 5 Trophoblasttumoren und bei 10 der 30 nichttrophoblastischen Malignome festgestellt werden. α2-PAG war in keinem der untersuchten Tumorgewebe nachweisbar. Bei 18 Patienten mit nichttrophoblastischen Tumoren wurden außerdem die Serum-PSβ1G und α2-PAG-Spiegel bestimmt. Dabei fand sich keine Korrelation zwischen Serum-Konzentration und immunhistologischem Befund. Aufgrund dieser Ergebnisse dürfte weder dem PSβ1G noch dem α2PAG eine besondere klinische Bedeutung als Serumindikator für die Diagnose und die Verlaufskontrolle verschiedener nichttrophoblastischer Tumoren des weiblichen Genitaltraktes zukommen.This publication has 18 references indexed in Scilit:
