Abstract
Temperature regulating mechanisms of rats with ventromedial lesions of the hypothalamus were studied by determining their body temperature responses to exercise, and to exposure to cold or heat. These lesions caused no primary impairment of temperature regulation. A higher body temperature observed after forced exercise was found to be secondary to the rats' hyperphagic behavior and their consequent weight gain. Keywords
