Abstract
In control plots Erica maintains dominance over Calluna. Grazing at rates of 50-200 sheep-days per 0.5-acre plot shifts the balance in favor of Calluna. At higher intensities Calluna drops out more rapidly than Erica. Under medium cutting Erica produces a few erect branches, and Calluna shows a spreading response. Under more severe treatment Erica is unchanged but Calluna becomes bushy.
