Abstract
Many companies today are adopting service-oriented architecture (SOA). While SO A has the potential to offer significant benefits to companies, the architectural issues associated with this new architecture paradigm need to be explored. The goal of this paper is to explore software architectures and patterns for SOAs using unified modeling language (UML). Specifically, this paper addresses issues on composing applications from reusable services, differentiating between several services that are similar but not identical, and establishing a common data model. Keywords
