THE ROLE OF LYMPHANGIOGRAPHY IN THE DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF MALIGNANT TESTICULAR TUMORS

Abstract
Pedal lymphangiograms were reviewed in 183 patients with malignant testis tumor.Roentgenographic evidence of metastatic tumor in lymph nodes was diagnosed in 95 patients. In 69 patients a histologic correlation could be made with the roentgenographic interpretation. Where such correlation was possible, 45 lymphangiograms were interpreted as positive for metastatic tumor with histologic confirmation in 42 patients (3 false positive diagnoses). In 24 lymphangiograms interpreted as negative for metastatic tumor, a histologic confirmation was found in 18 patients (6 false negative diagnoses).Criteria in diagnosis are discussed as well as the value of lymphangiography in subsequent treatment planning.
