A Respiratory Pigment from the Eggs of a Marine Worm

Abstract

A yellow respiratory pigment, to be called urechrome, was isolated from eggs of a marine worm, Urechis caupo. The pigment occurs naturally in both oxidized and reduced states, is reducible by the cells and autoxidizes in the physiological range of pH.
