Abstract

Adrenal cortex insufficiency was found to be related to prolonged alcoholism rather than to any of the phenomena of delirium tremens. The high incidence of adrenal cortex insufficiency in delirium tremens may be secondary to a postulated pituitary-hypothalamic disorder which, if it existed, could account for many of the phenomena of death in delirium tremens.
