Factors affecting cation formation in group 13 alkyl halide complexes

Abstract

The demarcation for the formation of cationic aluminium complexes is the transition between the use of chloride as a ligand (Me₂AlCl–NH₂Bu^t 1) and the relatively more polarizable bromide {[Me₂Al(NH₂Bu^t)₂]Br 2} as determined by X-ray diffractometry.
