Abstract
Using a theory of the surface acoustic soliton presented previously [T. Sakuma and Y. Kawanami, Phys. Rev. B 29, 869, 880 (1984)], we investigate the stability condition of the surface acoustic soliton in a semiconductor. The attenuation due to the surface inhomogeneities is taken into account as well as the anharmonic attenuation caused by the interaction with bulk thermal phonons. The strength of an applied dc electric field is numerically estimated to ensure the stable propagation of the surface acoustic soliton. Keywords
