Observation ofT=2Level inMg24as a Compound-Nucleus Resonance

Abstract
The lowest T=2 level in the self-conjugate nucleus Mg24 has been observed as a sharp resonance in the once—T-forbidden capture reaction Na23(p, γ)MgT=124* and in the twice-T-forbidden elastic scattering Na23(p, p0)Na23. The assignment of J=0 to this level at Ex=15.436±0.005 is confirmed by γγ correlation measurements.
