Abstract
Development of a technique practicable with portable X-ray equipment for screening with 35 mm. film in mass chest surveys was undertaken. The Westing- house 30 milliampere Diadex portable X-ray used with camera unit consisting of 14 X 17 in. Siemens Supra-Astral fluorescent screen mounted in bakelite cassette backed with lead glass in pyramidal wooden box 34 inches from Leica model F camera with Xenon f 1.5 lens gave best results to date with Agfa special Fluorapid film. Results on 120 cases examined with both 35 mm. and regular films show 5% error. Method is recommended for trial and development in scattered populations where large permanent installations are uneconomical. Keywords
