Abstract
Analytic expressions are derived for the escape probability of fluorescent photons from planar detectors in terms of exponential integral functions. Regional approximations for these functions are readily available and these analytic expressions therefore facilitate the computation of photon absorption efficiencies. As a further aid a table is presented which should obviate the need for calculating the escape probability for most cases of interest. Keywords
