Excitation functions for the elastic proton scattering from the target nucleus 144Sm have been measured in the energy-range from 8.600 to 11.600 MeV at six different scattering angles. Strong resonances were observed in the highly excited compound nucleus 145Eu, which are the isobaric analogues to the low-lying states of 145Sm. The resonances have been interpreted as BREIT-WIGNER resonances, superimposed on a smoothly varying background. The analysis was carried out in terms of a single level approximation. Energies, l-values, and widths of these resonances have been determined, and are compared with corresponding results of (d, p) -experiments.
