Abstract
This section of the work deals with the routine bacteriological examination of 2144 samples of water, of which 1102 contained lactose-fermenting bacilli, 4333 strains being isolated. Twelve strains which liquefied gelatine and 24 which gave anomalous MR and VP reactions were excluded from the coliform group; the remaining 4297 cultures were classified on the basis of the MR, VP, indol, citrate and uric acid tests. Keywords
