Abstract
The Cl L photoabsorption cross sections HCl and Cl2 were obtained with high resolution over a range between 198 and 280 eV. Below the Cl L2,3 ionisation thresholds, two broad bands and the sharp Rydberg series were observed for both molecules. These structures were assigned with the aid of ab initio calculations. Furthermore, two broad bands were observed above the Cl L2,3 ionisation thresholds for Cl2, while a single broad band was observed for HCl.Keywords
