THE CLINICAL AND METABOLIC EFFECTS OF PROGESTERONE AND ANHYDROHYDROXY-PROGESTERONE IN RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS

Abstract
14 patients with severe rheumatoid arthritis were treated with progesterone and anhydrohydroxy-progesterone. No substantial clinical improvement could be demonstrated, and there was no laboratory evidence of remission of the disease. The use of progesterone, 50-200 mg. daily, or anhydrohydroxyprogesterone, 200 mg. daily, appears to be of no value in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.
