Abstract
By the time the traditional dipstick test shows excess urinary albumin, glomerular damage may be beyond repair and nephrotic syndrome virtually guaranteed. More sensitive assays provide earlier warning, allowing the clinician to institute a surveillance and antihypertensive program that--along with dietary glycemic control--can stave off disease progression. Keywords
