Abstract
When test doses of 300-1000 mgm. were given orally, 30% was excreted in the urine in 24 hrs.; if 1000 mgm. was given intraven., 500 mgm. was normally excreted in 24 hrs.; 80% of the total 24-hrs. excretion took place in first 5 hrs. Capillary fragility tests, with a blood pressure cuff maintaining pressure for 15 mins. half way between systolic and diastolic, showed less than 10 petechiae normally in a 2.5 cm. circle on forearm. Preclinical scurvy is very common among all economic classes and in connection with many diseases e.g. rheumatic fever, whooping cough, osteomyelitis. The curative dosage is 30-50 mgm. daily.
