Abstract
By determining the phenol coefficients of a considerable number of monohydric alcohols and phenols the authors have shown that the bactericidal power of successive members of each series increases uniformly with molecular weight. On a molar basis the rate of increase is expressed by ratios between successive coefficients of 3.36, 3.0, 2.7 and 3.3 for the primary, secondary and tertiary normal alcohols and para phenols, respectively. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
