Determination of the Anomeric Configurations of Corbicula Ceramide Di- and Trihexoside by Chromium Trioxide Oxidation

Abstract
The anomeric configurations of Corbicula ceramide dihexoside and ceramide trihexoside were determined by chromium trioxide oxidation and the structures of these lipids were shown to be Man-β(1→4)-Glc-β(1→1)-ceramide and Man-α(1→4)-Man-β(1→4)-Glc-B(1→1)-ceramide. These results are compatible with those obtained by enzymic hydrolysis reported previously.
