Depth-Enhanced Integral Imaging with a Stepped Lens Array or a Composite Lens Array for Three-Dimensional Display

Abstract
In spite of the many advantages of integral imaging, the depth of reconstructed three-dimensional (3D) image is limited to around the only one image plane. Here, we propose a novel method for increasing the depth of a reconstructed image using a stepped lens array (SLA) or a composite lens array (CLA). We confirm our idea by fabricating SLA and CLA with two image planes each. By using a SLA or a CLA, it is possible to form the 3D image around several image planes and to increase the depth of the reconstructed 3D image.Keywords
