The purification and properties of valine tRNAs of Drosophila melanogaster

Abstract
The valine-tRNA of D. melanogaster were purified by column chromatography on BD-cellulose [benzoylated DEAE-cellulose], Sepharose 6B and RPC-5 [reverse phase chromatography]. Three major species were analyzed for base composition and coding properties. .**GRAPHIC**. binds strongly to ribosomes in the presence of GUA [guanine-uracil-adenine] and to a lesser extent with GUU and GUG. .**GRAPHIC**. binds strongly in the presence of GUG and very poorly if at all with the other 3 triplets whereas .**GRAPHIC**. which contains inosine, binds strongly in the presence of GUU, GUC [guanine-uracil-cytosine] and GUA and weakly with GUG.
