THE INFLUENCE OF ACTH ON THE SODIUM AND POTASSIUM CONCENTRATIONS OF HUMAN SALIVA

Abstract
Pilocarpine (0.1 mg./kg. subcut.) signif -icantly increased the salivary Na concn.; K was unchanged. ACTH, admd. intramusc. 4 times daily, caused gradual diminution of the saliva Na, but did not change the K. Salivary Na is therefore useful as an index of ACTH activity, but there is no advantage in det''n. of Na/K ratio.
