Abstract
These organisms changed glycocoll, Z-alanine, dl-amino-n-butyric acid, d-glutamic acid, l-cystine, l-tyro-sine, asparagine, urea, (NH4)2SO4 and KNO3, but did not change dl-valine, dl-phenylalanine or p-amino-benzoic acid. R. meliloti produced ammonia from glycocoll, dl-alanine, dl-amino-n-butyric acid, asparagine, and urea. R. japonicum produced ammonia from dl-alanine, asparagine, and urea. Both species utilized nitrates and nitrites. Strains within a species varied in their ability to produce changes in certain of the compounds tested. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
