Multilayer Piezoelectric Ceramic Bimorph Actuator

Abstract
Electromechanical properties have been studied for piezoelectric ceramic bimorph actuator without adhesive process, in which many internal electrodes were layered. The presently developed actuator with a size of 40 mm×12 mm×0.8 mm, shows 500µm free displacement or 60 gf clamping force by applying voltage V 1=40, V 2=-10 DCV. Increasing in layer number of internal electrodes of the actuator, leads to decrease the displacements and to increase the generative force. The hysteresis of the actuator was not only reduced to about one third of that of the conventional type, but also both of the creep and shift phenomena were sufficently reduced.
