Abstract
A model based on the grand unifying group SO(10) is described which leads to a realistic hierarchy of masses for the quarks and leptons. The SU(5) prediction is obviated in a simple way. Some simplification of the Higgs structure is achieved. Only Higgs representations appearing in the fermion-fermion operator are employed.
