Relation of Bacteriophage Pattern to some Biological Properties of Staphylococci

Abstract
254 strains of staphylococci, previously studied biologically, were phage-typed and classified into 3 groups according to the pattern of lysis. Strains from animal sources fell largely into one group, or were untypable. 64% of all the untypable strains were from animals. There appears to be an association between phage grouping and other properties of the animal strains, while human strains show no such correlation.
