The Natural History of Cladocerans in Relation to Temperature-III. Preadaptation and Dispersal

Abstract

Preadaptation is suggested as the best method cf accounting for the existing distribution of the Cladocera; this method involves a change in the organization of the body relative to its resistance to extremes of temp. Several of the types of genetical changes which may occur in these animals are discussed in relation to preadaptation to new temp. ranges.
